First, some major design improvements made by Badger since they first released this: the power switch is now easily accessible on the back of the motor unit; the safety release valve no longer rattles against the tank when the compressor is on; the compressor is quieter than previous version and the motor is higher power (fills faster), the hose fitting on the regulator is now 1/8 inch to fit most airbrush hoses without an adapter; gauge is now easier to read and can be angled to preferred viewing. This is the cheapest high-quality tank compressor for airbrushes you are going to find, IMO. It is quiet enough that you won't be bothered by it unless you put it right up to your ear or are extremely fussy, and it only runs a small part of the time unless you use a high volume airbrush and keep the trigger down constantly for very long periods of time (unlikely unless you have a very large paint supply attached). The tank fills from empty in just under a minute. Most of the time the compressor turns on, which it will do automatically at 3 bar, it's only topping off the tank, so it will run about 20 seconds and shut down automatically (at 4 bar). Unless you are on a serious painting marathon, it won't turn on all that often. Even laying down a primer coat on a 1/48 scale fighter jet model, I find it only kicks on a couple times. I tend to use about 20 psi when I'm doing this and work in sections, so the trigger is down for maybe 20-30 seconds at a time at most.My only complaint is that the gauge on the regulator is a 100 psi gauge. The tank fills to 57 psi as it's operating maximum. I bought a 60 psi gauge of the same size for less than $5 and swapped it out, which makes it much easier to dial in the exact regulated pressure I want. I'd recommend this to anybody who owns this compressor. Just look for a gauge that reads up to 60 psi, has a 1.5 inch dial and a 1/8 inch NPT connection. The NPT connection needs to be on the bottom or the side. Some gauges come with the NPT connection in the back center, but that will make the dial impossible to read unless you remove the cover since it will be facing the inside of the cover.Pros -Tank+regulator = completely consistent and steady airflowQuiet when runningOnly makes noise when running, which is not much unless you're doing a massive jobPortable - handle on top and about the weight of a medium sized carry on bagSolid steel case protects the parts wellPrice point is extremely competitive for similar productsCons -Gauge runs to 100 psi even though tank fills to 57 psi, would be easier to read with a 60 psi gauge.
